"No family gets rich from earning the minimum wage. In fact, the current minimum wage does not even lift a family out of poverty".
-Jon Corzine The federal minimum wage $7.25 per hour were affected in July 2009, and that had only affected few parts of the country for a few years. After the incident, the federal changed their minimum wage to $7.25 or higher with their political strength and power. Minimum wage was a huge problem in the city where I live in Philadelphia, and the problem has also been caused in Pennsylvania. Almost 80% of the people work for minimum wage, and in the last few years many minimum wage employed protesters had taking it to the streets for their civil rights.

Minimum wage is not the problem at all, it is the symptom of other problems. The problem is the population, the population of Philadelphia currently holds 1.556 million people and there are only 3,524 jobs are currently available. Most of the jobs are only hiring people who are undocumented in this country, so the owners can make them work more with less payment. Minimum wage is not for everybody, it is only for first time workers or less work experience person. Some company will hire new workers, their plan is to pay the workers over the minimum wage with no benefits for only three months, then they will fired you and re-hire new workers. If the person is able to be trained and improved themselves to operate the workplace efficiently, their wage will be raised. If we can help train people to operate the company, then why are we still facing this problem?
Overpopulated and not enough job opportunities is the problem we are facing. People need money to bring food into the house and pay for other expenses, minimum wage can only help very little. The government should cut less tax from the workers from every paycheck because most of our tax money goes towards military, welfare and education, the government is not spending our money wisely. It is not right of the government to take the money from the school districts to put into military and promoting other unnecessary stuff. People need a job to help their family, and we are currently running out of jobs in Philadelphia. The government cut few percentage of taxes from everyone’s paycheck by the end of the week, but it depends on the person dependence. I think this is not only a problem that is happening in Philadelphia, but it is also happening in every states whose minimum wage is $7.25 hourly.
In my perspective, I do not think anything will change even if the minimum wage go up to $10.10 or not, because if the government raises the minimum wage to $10.10 the government will find a way to raise the taxes and our everyday expenses such as public transportation, gas price, food and many more. Our living expenses will always cost us more and it will remain that way no matter how much our wage ranges.
